Igor Mortis surveys the mock-up displayed in front of him before intently bending over the table and lifting his needle above the leg of his client, Alex. Then, ever so carefully, he begins the process of coloring in the tattooed outline of Timber Jim.
Behind Mortis, in his workspace at Tiger Lily Tattoo, hangs a collection of hand-drawn images featuring the classic roses, axes, sunrises and other more elaborate designs favored by the Timbers Army.
There are also numerous drawings of championship stars. Lately, Mortis has been tattooing a lot of stars.
