PORTLAND, Ore. – Diego Valeri had a goal and an assist while Darren Mattocks scored late in second half stoppage time as the ten-man Portland Timbers defeated the New York Red Bulls Friday night at Providence Park in front of a sellout crowd of 21,144.
Timbers goalkeeper Jeff Attinella made three saves–including an acrobatic stop in the 90th minute on a point-blank header from New York's Gonzalo Verón–and the Timbers earned their fourth clean sheet of 2017.
