Wintering’s 27 Not Enough as Gonzaga Holds off Pilots

SPOKANE, Wash. – Portland junior point guard Alec Wintering scored a team-high 27 points, but Kyle Wiltjer and Domantas Sabonis combined for 60 points to lead Gonzaga to an 85-74 West Coast Conference victory Saturday night at the McCarthey Athletic Center.

Wintering finished 9-of-13 from the field and added six assists. He has now averaged 27.0 points per game over the last four games. Senior guard Bryce Pressley added 15 points for the Pilots (8-10, 2-3 WCC).

Wiltjer finished with 32 points, including 6-of-9 from three-point range. Sabonis finished with 28 points, 17 rebounds, four assists, three steals and three blocked shots for the Bulldogs (13-3, 5-0).
