Wintering Scores 31, But Flyers Defeat Pilots at Wooden Legacy

FULLERTON, Calif. – Portland senior point guard Alec Wintering scored 31 points and dished out eight assists, but the Dayton Flyers got off to a quick start and held on for an 84-74 victory Friday on day two of the Wooden Legacy hosted at Titan Gym.

The Pilots (3-2) will get Saturday off before concluding play at the Wooden Legacy on Sunday at 8 p.m. versus Cal State Northridge at the Honda Center. That game will be televised live nationally on ESPNU.

Wintering made 15-of-16 free throws and added five rebounds and three steals. He logged all 40 minutes of playing time, as did backcourt mate Jazz Johnson and forward Gabe Taylor, who each finished with 17 points.
