Portland Falls Short in 5-2 Loss to Saint Mary's

MORAGA, Calif. -- The Portland Pilots came up just short at the plate against the Saint Mary's Gaels, as they fell 5-2 on Saturday. The Gaels officially clinched the series with the win.

Brock Gillis (2-1) got the start for Portland (16-10, 6-2) and took the loss, his first of the year. Three Pilots recorded one hit on the day, with Zach Toglia, Jake Tsukada and Henry Muench each doing so. Nich Klemp did not record a hit, but brought in two runs across four at-bats.

The Pilots struggled at the plate and allowed two early runs in the first to innings to find themselves in a 2-0 hole.
