SAN BRUNO, Calif. --- Portland senior Maddie Goodwin and sophomore Veronica Nicacio were both selected to the 2017 All-West Coast Conference Preseason Women's Rowing Team, while the Pilots were picked to finish fourth. Gonzaga was voted as the favorite to win the 2017 WCC women's rowing championship in the preseason poll of the league's seven head coaches.
The defending WCC Champion and 18th-ranked Bulldogs earned 36 points and the maximum six first-place votes. Last season Gonzaga advanced to the NCAA Championship for the third time in four years.
San Diego followed in second place with 31 points and they claimed the remaining first place vote.
