Steelers cut 20, sign cornerback Cockrell

The Steelers released 20 players today and signed a young cornerback to reach their 53-man roster limit.

Among those released was seventh-round draft pick Gerod Holliman, a safety, and several players who were on their 53-man roster last season -- halfback Josh Harris, cornerback B.W. Webb and linebacker Howard Jones. They also released veteran offensive lineman Doug Legursky, although he could return once they place center Maurkice Pouncey on the short-term injured reserve list.

Holliman is the only one of their eight draft picks this year to be released.

The Steelers signed free agent cornerback Ross Cockrell to a one-year contract.
