Much Like Shazier, Olsavsky Knows All About The “Undersized” Label

Much like their 2014 first round draft choice, inside linebacker Ryan Shazier, Pittsburgh Steelers inside linebackers coach Jerry Olsavsky knows all too well about the whispers from the pundits regarding size. The Steelers’ tenth round draft choice in 1989, he was a 6-foot-1, 221-pound demon on special teams his rookie season while backing up Hardy Nickerson at inside linebacker.

The city of Pittsburgh may be a brand new sight to a guy like 2015 first rounder, Bud Dupree, who’s been on record saying prior to being drafted, he’s never been to the city. But for Olsavsky, who attended the University of Pittsburgh, his new employer was only a short walk away.
