Pirates reassign Austin Meadows to minor league camp

The Pirates sent their top prospect, Austin Meadows, to minor league camp Monday, ending an impressive audition for the 21-year-old outfielder.

In 20 spring games, Meadows hit .326 with two homers and a .420 on-base percentage. All spring numbers come with multiple grains of salt, but especially his, as he entered some games late and faced some 20-year-old A ball kids. But he got more experience than he might have because the entire starting outfield played deep into the World Baseball Classic.

Pirates fans will probably see Meadows at PNC Park this season, whether it be in case of an injury in the second half of the season, a trade or a September call-up.
