The Pittsburgh Pirates have promoted right-handed pitcher Nick Kingham to the Altoona Curve. He made his last two starts for the Bradenton Marauders, throwing six shutout innings while striking out seven batters on Tuesday. In his prior start, he threw five shutout innings.
Kingham is working his way back from Tommy John surgery, which happened last May. He made six starts in the Gulf Coast League before joining Bradenton, throwing a total of 24 innings on his rehab assignment.
He should get two more starts before the season ends on September 5th, then he could pitch in the playoffs if Altoona is able to hold on to their lead over the last 12 days of the season.
