Josh Bell cleared for base running, will play in simulated games soon

BRADENTON, Fla. — Josh Bell has been cleared to run the bases exactly one month after arthroscopic surgery on his left knee and will begin participating in simulated games this week.

“Actually, it’s felt great for a couple weeks now,” Bell said. “I guess the soreness from the incision points where they scoped into the knee, the soreness there has gone away. I feel as close to 100 percent as I’m going to feel.”

Bell had surgery Feb. 1 to remove a loose body from his left knee. He has faced live pitching during workouts at Pirate City, and recently ran in a straight line and arcs.
