Joe Starkey: Thank you, Joe Musgrove, for confirming our sanity

“They took a shot at our catcher when he had his back to him, and he was unable to defend himself, and we thought that was wrong.” — Joe Musgrove

We weren’t crazy, after all.

By “we,” I mean those of us who saw Anthony Rizzo’s dirty, dangerous blindside shot on Pirates catcher Elias Diaz and thought, ‘Wow, that was a dirty, dangerous, blindside shot.’ ”

I don’t care if Ty Cobb did this a hundred years ago. It was a gutless, illegal, potentially injurious play that deserved retribution.

Will retribution carry the Pirates to a division title?
