ATLANTA — The Pirates on Thursday reinstated right fielder Gregory Polanco (hamstring) from the 10-day disabled list and optioned outfielder Danny Ortiz to Class AAA Indianapolis. Polanco was left out of the starting lineup for a series finale against the Atlanta Braves Thursday but expects he’ll return to regular action Friday.
Also out of the lineup Thursday was Andrew McCutchen, on the bench for the second day in a row. McCutchen pinch-hit in the 10th inning of a 12-5 win Wednesday, singling and striking out.

Right-hander Jameson Taillon threw a 35-pitch bullpen session Thursday and reported all went smoothly.
