Chad Kuhl, Pirates await second opinion on strained forearm

Chad Kuhl and the Pirates are in the process of getting a second opinion on the forearm strain that forced him to the disabled list.

Kuhl left his start June 26 after four innings because of tightness in his forearm. He was eligible to return from the DL Saturday, but said he will miss at least a couple weeks.

“I just knew that the last pitch didn’t feel good,” Kuhl said. “I came out and threw that warmup pitch [when manager Clint Hurdle and the trainer checked on him] and the next pitch was 96 [mph]. I’m still thinking, structurally I’m fine but I know something’s going on.
