Bill Brink: You can look at this in two ways, and it's up to each fan to decide where they fall. They added $8.9 million in salary at the trade deadline, this year's payroll will be the highest in club history and the Pirates, on a percentage basis, have increased their payroll by more than most teams during the past five years, when they have been improving on the field.
