Ron Cook: Morton's job is to keep up momentum for Pirates

If Jim Leyland said it once in his Pirates managing days, he said it dozens of times.

“Momentum in baseball is only as good as your next game’s starting pitcher.”

Charlie Morton takes the ball tonight against the Miami Marlins for the suddenly soaring Pirates. It will be his first major league start since Sept. 16.

“He’s ready to go,” manager Clint Hurdle said. “He’s just seen three guys pitch in front of him. It should have gotten his adrenaline pumping a little bit.”
