Pirates Rumors: Nathan Eovaldi trade update, Marlins listening to offers

The Pittsburgh Pirates are surveying the trade market for dynamic young starting pitching options, and the Miami Marlins' Nathan Eovaldi has appeared to pique their interest.

However, despite the Marlins' willingness to listen to offers, MLB.com's Tom Singer reports that Pirates president Frank Coonelly doesn't see a deal getting done anytime soon:

Eovaldi is an intriguing arm given the fact that his fastball has averaged around 96 mph the past two seasons. He has struggled to miss bats, however, posting a 4.34 ERA in 2014. Yet his 3.37 FIP , 3.76 xFIP and 3.91 SIERA seem to point to the fact that he was a better overall pitcher than his ERA might suggest.

Count the Pittsburgh Pirates as interested, but a deal as likely a long way off if it's to get done.
