The Pittsburgh Pirates had three minor league players take home weekly awards for their performances last week. Harold Ramirez was named the Florida State League player of the week, while Carlos Munoz won the Appalachian League award. Morgantown's Jonathan Brubaker won the NYPL pitcher of the week.
Ramirez spent the previous week playing for Colombia in the Pan-Am games, so he came back on fire. He won the award despite not playing Monday, plus Bradenton had one game rained out and another ended early due to rain. Ramirez went 9-for-20, drove in eight runs and stole three bases.
