NEW YORK — Having canceled practice Friday for reasons that probably fit somewhere between needlessness and pointlessness, the Penguins made a handful of players available for a handful or questions from a handful of media at their Manhattan hotel, the location of which we were asked not to divulge.
I’m honoring that request, but I can’t resist this one hint: The number of floors in the building comfortably exceeds the number of goals scored by the Penguins in their past three playoff series including this one. Let’s just leave it at that.
The day after dropping Game 1 of their playoff series to the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden, the club’s evident caution about revealing its exact location afforded coach Mike Johnston the opportunity to discuss undisclosed injuries at an undisclosed hotel.
