CHICAGO — Chicago Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo doubled in the third and singled in the fifth, both with two outs, and drove in two runs as the Cubs snapped the Pirates’ five-game winning streak tonight with a 4-0 shutout at Wrigley Field.

Rizzo has hit safely in eight games in a row against the Pirates. By the seventh inning, the Pirates had gotten the message, and reliever Rob Scahill walked Rizzo on four pitches.

The Cubs improved to 11-7 on the season and 3-2 against the Pirates.

The Pirates, fresh off a three-game sweep on the road against the Arizona Diamondbacks, had won eight of their previous 10 games.
