Bob Smizik: And the Pirates' next move is . . . ?

General manager Neal Huntington said on his radio show yesterday that the Pirates, after trading for Aramis Ramirez, are not necessarily through dealing. We can only hope that is the case.

As constituted, the Pirates are a very good team, a team that would be a difficult opponent in the postseason. That does not mean they can’t get better. All teams can get better.

* Starting rotation: The Kansas City Royals made a bold move yesterday by trading three prospects for Johnny Cueto, a rental whose health has not been 100 percent. That doesn’t mean the Pirates need to make such a move, and they most certainly won’t.
