Ron Cook: Penguins win caps off a grand night at Heinz Field

A fter a high of 76 degrees Friday and overnight rain into Saturday morning, the weather was perfect for a hockey game. It was 36 at puck drop with brief snow flurries by the end of the first period. Wind? What wind? Who cares about a little wind?

There were live Penguins on the ice before the game. I don’t mean Crosby, Malkin and Kessel. I’m talking real, live, cute, waddling Penguins. Seven in all, by my count. How cool is that?

There was a pregame appearance by Styx on the Jumbotron — “Renegade,” of course — and a between-periods concert on the grounds by the rock group Train.
