Penguins president and CEO David Morehouse will receive the Art Rooney Award for leadership, the awards organizers announced Tuesday.
Morehouse, a Pittsburgh native, has been with the Penguins since 2004 when he joined them to work on their new arena project. He became the team president in 2007 and added CEO to his title in 2010.
Under his watch, the Penguins have become one of the most successful teams in the NHL, both on the ice and from a business perspective. The team has sold out every game for the past 10 seasons and has made a concentrated effort to find new ways to engage with its fan base, particularly the younger demographic.
