Penguins notebook: Players packing earplugs, noise machines for weekend road trip with dads

The Penguins have prepped for sleep disturbances on their weekend road trip to face the Carolina Hurricanes and Florida Panthers.

They’ve packed extra earplugs, noise machines, even sound-muffling pillows.

Why? Their dads are in tow for the weekend, and many of them apparently snore loudly.

“I think the snoring is a bit of an issue, sharing a room with him,” defenseman Ian Cole joked about his father, a dentist from Michigan. “You’ve got to bring some earplugs for when the dads are with you, then some Bose headphones on top of that, and maybe a pillow on top of that to try to get some sleep.
