Penguins' Malkin will not have hearing over Winnik hit

Penguins center Evgeni Malkin will not have a hearing with the NHL's Department of Player Safety over a hit on Washington left winger Daniel Winnik during the Penguins' 3-2 overtime victory against the Capitals Wednesday night.

Winnik left the game for several minutes after the check by Malkin, but later returned.

Replays available at the time were not conclusive about where the principal point of contact on Malkin's hit was.

The Penguins, who own a 3-1 lead in their second-round series with the Capitals, have a scheduled day off today and have returned defenseman Steve Oleksy to their farm team in Wilkes-Barre.
