Penguins' Malkin, Crosby named to All-Star team

Evgeni Malkin will join Sidney Crosby as the Penguins’ representatives at the 2017 All-Star Game, the NHL announced today.

It is the seventh all-star selection for Malkin, who is fifth in the NHL with 43 points on the season. He led the league in scoring for the month of December, putting up 21 points (seven goals, 14 assists) to lead the Penguins to a 12-1-2 record during the final month of 2016.

“It’s a great time,” Malkin said of the selection. “A great time with my family, a great time with friends.”

Malkin will join Crosby, who was earlier announced as the captain for the Metropolitan Division, as chosen by a fan vote.
