Paul Zeise: Hornqvist comes to Penguins rescue

The Penguins were short-handed Thursday night, they were down 2-0 to the San Jose Sharks heading into the third period and they needed a lift in order to avoid their third loss in a row.

But that’s about when forward Patric Honrqvist did what he does — provide a spark with his hustle and his intensity and his willingness to sacrifice his body. He helped turn the game around as they won 3-2 over the defending Western Conference champs.

It shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone that Hornqvist was in the middle of this comeback, though, because providing a spark is what he always seems to do and it is why he is one of the Penguins’ most important players.
