The Tigers had an impressive turnaround last season going 25-10 and gaining a 7 seed in the NCAAT. They defeated Utah State before falling to cinderella Princeton in the second round. They had finished 12-21 the season before. Head coach Dennis Gates (who played for Cal in NCAAT against Pitt in 2002) is back for his second season after three successful years at Cleveland State.
