Suns' youth to see rigorous defensive scrutiny down the stretch

CHICAGO – The trade deadline has passed. P.J. Tucker is gone. Stuck at the bottom of the Western Conference, the Suns entered the season’s final stretch Friday.

Don’t overlook its importance.

The Suns – 18-39 entering Friday’s contest against the Bulls – will spend the next seven weeks evaluating a roster that features nine players under age 25. An initial change: center Alex Len starting in place of veteran Tyson Chandler. Also, forward Alan Williams and rookie point guard Tyler Ulis are expected to see more minutes. Forward T.J. Warren will take on greater defensive responsibilities. Guard Devin Booker will shoulder more leadership.
