The NBA might change its ways to give Walton credit for his work as Warriors interim head coach, but there already is plenty of credit being given for the way Walton has kept the NBA champions atop the league.
Head coach Steve Kerr has been out all season as he recuperates from a spinal fluid leak caused during a July surgery on a ruptured disk. A year ago, Walton was a first-year NBA assistant. Next year, he might be a first-year head coach elsewhere after getting Golden State off to the greatest start in NBA history and adding more wins onto Kerr’s impressive rookie coaching ledger.
