In his 16 year career, Amar’e averaged 18.9 PPG and 7.8 RPG, but averaged 21.4 PPG and 8.9 RPG. A staple to the Run-and-Gun Mike Dantoni offense the Suns ran so excitingly for the majority of the previous decade, “STAT” was Steve Nash’s right hand man.
But with the excitement also came injuries, excruciatingly painful playoff losses and a suspension against the San Antonio Spurs that Suns fans have tried to forget. Amar’e elected to sign with the New York Knicks in 2010, Steve Nash left to chase a championship two years later and Phoenix has not been the same since.
