Reports: Chayka a candidate for Coyotes' GM vacancy

Reports surfaced over the weekend that a current member of the Coyotes’ management team might fulfill the vacant general manager post.

Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman and TSN’s Bob McKenzie sent out tweets on Saturday that mentioned Arizona assistant general manager John Chayka as a potential replacement for Don Maloney, who was fired April 11 with two years remaining on his contract, with McKenzie writing Chayka “is most likely the man.”

Chayka just wrapped his first season with the Coyotes after being hired almost a year ago at the age of 25 as an assistant general manager specializing in analytics.
