It's no secret CJ Sapong is having a fantastic 2017 season. He's been finding the back of the net often. He's drawing fouls. He's playing great defense. He's been a leader on the Union. And he may be playing the best soccer of his career.
Sapong currently paces the Union with eight goals on the season. In just 12 games, he has already surpassed his goal output from last season, and he's just one shy of tying his career high of nine goals, last achieved in 2015. And in his two and a half seasons with the Union, he has already scored more goals with the Union than he did playing with Sporting Kansas City, despite playing in 40 less games.
