Just three days after making his first U-20 FIFA World Cup appearance, Derrick Jones got the nod and found himself in the starting XI for the first time in the tournament against Senegal and the US Men's National Team walked away with a 1-0 win.
Jones impressed out on the pitch, making an impact offensively and defensively. Early on in the match, Jones was physical with his Senegal counterparts, and earned a couple of free kicks to help the US gain and maintain possession early in the match. After Josh Sargent scored to make it 1-0, Jones nearly doubled the US's score in the dying minuets of the half, but couldn't finish off the pass.
