Alejandro Bedoya Scores First Road Playoff Goal In Club History As Union Fall in Knockout Round

Philadelphia Union fell to Toronto FC 3-1 Wednesday night at BMO Field in the knockout round of the 2016 MLS Playoffs. The loss ends a 2016 campaign that saw the club reach the postseason for the first time since 2011, and just the second time in club history.

Philadelphia controlled most of the possession throughout the first ten minutes of the match. Toronto struck first in the 15th minute thanks to their regular season leading goal-scorer Sebastian Giovinco. Toronto created pressure in the Philadelphia zone with the forceful play of Jozy Altidore. After a deflection from Philadelphia defender Ken Tribbett that sent the ball into the box, Altidore was able to find after Union goalkeeper Andre Blake came charging towards him.
