Phillies rumor: Marlins Dee Gordon a reported trade target

First it was Giancarlo Stanton, then Christian Yelich, now it’s Dee Gordon that’s reportedly caught the Phillies’ wishful eyes.

Bob Nightengale of USA Today Sports says the team is showing some interest in the son of former Phillies closer Tom “Flash” Gordon.

At face value, the interest in Gordon doesn’t make a whole ton of sense from the Phillies standpoint. Gordon has only played second and shortstop in his career, and it appears the Phillies believe they have their future middle infielders going forward.

Some combination of Freddy Galvis, Cesar Hernandez, J.P. Crawford, and Scott Kingery should be strong defensively up the middle, which is where the Phillies are trending in their rebuild.
