CLEARWATER, Fla. - The final two spots in the Phillies bullpen belong to Adam Morgan and Joely Rodriguez after the team optioned righthander Luis Garcia to the minor leagues on Thursday morning.
Morgan and Rodriguez will be the lone lefthanders in the seven-man unit, joining Joaquin Benoit, Jeanmar Gomez, Hector Neris, Pat Neshek, and Edubray Ramos.
The Phillies still have to finalize their bench before breaking camp on Friday. Brock Stassi, Daniel Nava, and Jesmuel Valentin continue to compete for the final two roles.
Morgan, 27, gives the Phillies a needed long reliever. He allowed five earned runs this spring in 181/3 innings.
