While most Americans will be watching the presidential debate Monday night, the Flyers will have others things on their mind as they open their exhibition season with a pair of split-squad games.
Instead of trying to show they deserve to reside in the White House, they have a more modest goal: Staying in the NHL.
The Flyers will play mostly prospects in Newark, N.J., against the Devils, and in Brooklyn against the Islanders.
"It's the first opportunity for a lot of our guys," coach Dave Hakstol said after his players had an intra-squad scrimmage Sunday in Voorhees.
