Flyers grab second spot in NHL draft lottery

The Flyers got very lucky Saturday night and grabbed the second spot in the NHL draft lottery.

The Flyers' arch-rivals, New Jersey, won the lottery and will pick first in the June draft.

No. 1 overall pick is likely to be center Nolan Patrick of the Brandon Wheat Kings in the Western Hockey League. He is a former WHL teammate of Flyers rookie Ivan Provorov.

The Flyers would probably select one of the following highly-touted centers: Patrick, if the Devils don’t choose him, Niko Hischier, Martin Necas, or Gabriel Vilardi.

Had the draft order gone as the teams finished the regular season, the Flyers would have chosen 13th in the first round.
