Whenever Eagles tight end Zach Ertz checked in with former teammates and coaches at Stanford after he left for the NFL, he kept hearing about a new player on the team, running back Christian McCaffrey.
Ertz watched from afar when McCaffrey earned first-team all-America honors as a sophomore in 2015 with an NCAA-record 3,864 total yards. He also won the Paul Hourning Award as the nation's most versatile player.
Ertz used a nickname for McCaffrey while talking with friends. "Darren Sproles 2.0."
"Just a little bit taller," Ertz said.
McCaffrey, who is 5-foot-11 and 202 pounds, ran a 4.
