An Illinois reunion in Seattle.
After watching the top OL prospects get snatched up, I’ve made the decision to strengthen the Seahawks defensive trenches by selecting DT Jer’Zhan “Johnny” Newton out of Illinois. As such, we get to reunite Newton with his former Illini teammate Devon Witherspoon for Mike Macdonald’s defense.
The Seahawks were dreadful down the stretch defensively last season(sound familiar?) and could look to prioritize a defensive lineman with their first pick in the draft. It was tempting to select Laiatu Latu from UCLA, but injury concerns ultimately swayed me from picking the Bruins highly productive edge rusher.
