NBA Draft 2018: Sixers trade back, pick Texas Tech's Zhaire Smith at No. 16 | 5 things to know

Smith is a 6-foot-5 guard/forward from Garland, Texas who played his lone season of college basketball at Texas Tech. In one season, Smith averaged 11.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.1 blocks per game.

Smith shot 45 percent on threes at Texas Tech ... but he only attempted 40 three-pointers total in 37 games. One of his biggest criticisms is the form on his shot, and if he wants to become more than a role player in the NBA, it'll start with his ability to make three-pointers.

A year ago, Smith wasn't remotely on the NBA radar and was only rated a three-star recruit coming out of high school, according to 247sports.
