Joel Embiid out indefinitely with knee swelling; Ben Simmons undergoes foot procedure

The Sixers announced on Monday morning that center Joel Embiid is now out indefinitely because of swelling in his left knee. He’s scheduled to have an MRI later in the day.

Medical update (1/2):
•Embiid did not take part in shootaround after swellness in left knee. MRI today. Listed out indefinitely.— Philadelphia 76ers (@Sixers) February 27, 2017

Embiid originally suffered a bone bruise in his knee during the Sixers’ win over the Portland Trail Blazers on Jan. 20, and has played one game since then. He’s been practicing on and off with the team since suffering the injury, but reoccurring swelling in his knee has made it impossible for him to return to game action.
