Penn State has released details pertaining to head coach James Franklin's amended terms of employment and contract extension.
He will make $4.3 million in 2017, the same amount he was scheduled to make under his old contract, and then $4.5 million in 2018. Under the old deal, Franklin wouldn't have made that much until 2019.
The rest of the contract, which now runs through 2022, is set to pay him the following in guaranteed compensation per year:
2019: $5.35 million
2020: $5.65 million
2021: $5.95 million
2022: $6.25 million
Also changed was the buyout and retention bonus portions of the contract.
