Penn State's Stevens grew into quarterback role

Tommy Stevens is tall. He’s 6 feet 5, to be precise.

Tommy Stevens is a quarterback. And a pretty fair one, at that.

But he didn’t always have that kind of size, and he didn’t always play his current position of choice.

“I wasn’t as tall, growing up, I guess, and that’s why I played running back,” said Stevens, Penn State’s No. 2 quarterback. “Eventually, I grew out of that, and so I had to move into something else.”

But he didn’t immediately embrace the spot he plays now.

Not willingly, at least.

“I hated playing quarterback at first,” he said.
