Penn State’s Sal Biasi honored by Big Ten

ROSEMONT, Ill.

Penn State pitcher Sal Biasi earned second-team All-Big Ten honors Tuesday as the conference handed out its end-of-season awards.

The junior pitcher picked up his first postseason conference honor and is the first Nittany Lion pitcher to pick up an award, voted on by the conference coaches, since Joe Kurrasch in 2012.

Biasi posted a 5-5 record with a 3.48 ERA, 88 strikeouts, 39 walks, 47 hits and 34 runs allowed over 72 1/3 innings. The 88 strikeouts are ninth in program history and the most in a season since 2009.

Biasi figures to hear his name called during the Major League Baseball draft, which runs June 12-14.
