Penn State women's lacrosse opens season with win at Lehigh

Penn State, picked to finish second in the Big Ten by the conference coaches' poll, will face tenacious competition when it defends its conference crown.

But in the season opener, the Nittany Lions breezed past Patriot League foe Lehigh, 13-6, notching the game's first five goals.

Midfielders Steph Lazo and Jenna Mosketti each scored four goals on the day and midfielder Katie O'Donnell had two. Freshman Madison Carter notched her first career goal in the opening half, while Madison Cyr and Abby Smucker each found the net once.

At halftime, the Lions led 7-3 on the strength of Mosketti's hat trick and didn't let up in the second.
