Annapolis’ quarterfinal game was No. 7 Penn State’s greatest challenge in 2025. It defeated back-to-back national champions Notre Dame behind a six-goal comeback in the second half and advanced to the NCAA Tournament semifinals at Gillette Stadium, setting up a rematch with No. 1 Cornell.
On March 8, the blue and white took down the Big Red in overtime. However, Penn State fell short of a comeback and lost to Cornell 11-9.
Both defenses started the contest hot, not allowing goals for most of the first quarter. The Nittany Lions packed tightly to the middle of the box, quickly swatting down any moves towards the inside.
