Penn State Football: Mark Allen brings spark plug power to Lions

Since the beginning James Franklin era, Penn State football’s offensive attack has stayed balanced. In fact, last year the offense averaged 35.2 pass attempts per game and 34.7 rush attempts per game. Saquon Barkley took 81 percent of the running back carries last year. The majority after that came in relief. Now, the offense has to rely on former five-star running back Miles Sanders and fifth-year back Mark Allen.

Sanders is the heir apparent to Barkley, but he won’t get all the carries. Allen has waited his turn for four years. In that time, he’s gotten to showcase his talent late in games.
