Penn State Football: Cameron Brown creates length problem for offenses

“Linebacker U” saw a facelift in recent years. The previously prototypical linebacker featured bigger players around 240 to 250-pounds. This past season, most of the linebackers hovered around 220-230 pounds. However, Penn State football’s most intriguing player in the front seven is sophomore Cameron Brown.

Brown looks more like a wide receiver standing 6-foot-5 and weighing in at 215-pounds. However, his size created mismatches. As a linebacker, he’s a problem simply because he doesn’t fit into a true position. He’s too quick for lineman to block and too strong for backs to pick up.

During the Ohio State win, Brown made a key play blocking a punt and flipping the field position.
